Suspect In Waukesha Shooting Released: Report

Officers responded to the 1200 block of W. Sunset Drive on a report that the man had been shot in the chest.

WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities in Waukesha say a 46-year-old man was shot and killed after reportedly being shot in the chest just after noon on Friday.

Police identified the victim as James L. Bell, of the 1200 block of W. Sunset Drive. His killer has yet to be identified. In a previous report, authorities indicated they would be recommending the charge of second-degree reckless homicide to the district attorney's office.

On Tuesday, authorities told Waukesha Patch that the woman who shot the man was locked up over last weekend. The Waukesha District Attorney's office reviewed the case, according to police, and made the decision to release her without charges pending an additional investigative follow-up.

The Incident

According to Waukesha police, officers responded to the 1200 block of W. Sunset Drive on a report that Bell had been shot in the chest.

Police are reporting that they are not seeking additional suspects in this crime, and that there is not additional threats present to the public.

Police say Bell was transported to the Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Police are also saying that they are in the early stages of a homicide investigation.
