Waukesha North Put On Lockout Due To Area Armed Robbery: Police

North High School was on lockout for about 30 minutes just after 1 p.m. on Monday on a report of an armed robbery at the Verizon store.

WAUKESHA, WI — For the second time in a little more than two weeks, Waukesha North High School was secured due to a threat in the area.

According to police in Waukesha, North High School was on lockout for about 30 minutes just after 1 p.m. on Monday on a report of an armed robbery at the Verizon cell phone store, 1921 Silvernail Road — approximately two miles north of the school.

Waukesha police said that the suspect was reported headed south toward the school, but a check of surveillance footage revealed that the suspect left in a different direction. At that point, the lockout was lifted, according to police.

According to school officials, a lockout was different from the lockdown roughly two weeks ago. Although people are not allowed to enter or exit the school during either security event, a lockout allows students to move in the building whereas a lockdown does not.
