Waukesha Police Called on TV News Crew

The scene of the police call was outside the Select Fire Gun Shop, which was burglarized earlier this week.

WAUKESHA, WI — According to police reports, the police were called on a television news team that was hoping to do a live broadcast from outside a Waukesha gun shop.

Waukesha police responded to the 2300 block of Parklawn Drive on a report of a suspicious person. The scene of the police call was out front Select Fire Weaponry - a local gun shop that was subject to a burglary.

According to police reports, a man reported to police that he was watching surveillance footage cameras and saw a Toyota parked in the parking lot with its lights illuminating the building after business hours at just before 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The person who called police said there were two people inside the vehicle, that they had been in the vehicle for a length of time, and that they were parked on the side of the building.

According to police reports, officers responded several minutes later and met with the occupants of the vehicle. Officers learned that the vehicle and its occupants were from CBS 58 and that they wanted to do a live shot for the 10 p.m. news.
