Waukesha Police Investigating Possible Murder-Suicide

According to reports, a man and a woman were found dead with gunshot wounds in a home Wednesday in the 900 block of North Lawndale Avenue.

WAUKESHA, WI — Police are investigating the death of a man and a woman inside a house in the 900 block of Lawndale Ave Wednesday afternoon. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that one of the deaths may have been caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the report, police responded to the scene around 1:45 p.m. to investigate a “critical incident”. Police said the incident was limited to the single-family residence and that there is no danger to the public. The incident took place within a block of ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital and the Waukesha Police Departments where family members were taken to allow police officials to gather information.

According to television reports, police officers arrived at the scene after receiving a 911 call from a hysterical woman. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two people dead inside the residence. Police officials told reporters that they are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide. Police did not indicate who they believed the suspected shooter to be, according to media reports.

"The investigation will ultimately reveal that this will probably most likely be a murder-suicide, but let's allow the evidence and trust the process of the investigation to get us to that conclusion," Waukesha Police Capt. Dan Baumann told reporters in a media briefing outside the home late Wednesday afternoon.
