Waukesha Preservation Days This Weekend

WAUKESHA, WI — In observance of Waukesha's rich history, the Waukesha Preservation Alliance, along with many other partner organizations, is proud to host Historic Preservation Days on Saturday, May 19 – Sunday, May 20, 2018.

This annual event brings local history to life for participants of all ages. A majority of the events are free.

Saturday's activities include historic walking tours, a guided springs tour, an antique vehicle display, and an opportunity to view and learn the history of Silurian Spring.

The Waukesha County Museum will host an open house of its exhibits. Special events include an Introduction to Tea, as well as a historic brewery memorabilia, display inside a local brewery.

On Sunday, open houses of historic homes will be offered.

  • Information Booth and Firefighting History: Fire Station #1, 130 W. St. Paul Ave. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m
  • Silurian Spring: Springs Park, 700 N. Hartwell Ave.
  • 10 a.m. - 2 p.m
  • Guided Prairie Home Cemetery Tour: 605 South Prairie Ave. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Wisconsin Ave. Historic District: Corner of Carroll St. and N. Grand Ave., in front of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 10 a.m. - Note: Only One Tour
  • Downtown Historic Tour: Meet at Five Points by Clarke Hotel 2 p.m. - Note: Only One Tour
  • Games on the Green: Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum, 101 W Main St. Games: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Research: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m., Open House: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Mccall Street Historic District: Corner of McCall St. and East Ave. 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.
  • Waukesha Fox Paint Class and Trivia: A Stroke of Genius, 250 W. Broadway 6:30 p.m. - Reservations Required

Sunday:

  • Godman Open House: 1011 E. Broadway 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Halladay Open House: S23W23185 Broadway 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
