In other actions, the board also approved of the non-renewal of 18 teacher contracts for district teachers without appropriate certification, teachers on non-traditional contracts and teachers with replacement contracts.

The move is to comply with statutory timelines and not for performance purposes. According to the district, non-renewal notice must be given to teachers at least three weeks prior to May 15. Those teachers may be hired back if necessary for next year.
