Waukesha School Official Charged For Not Reporting Sex Assault
Investigators say a locker room incident between two boys was not reported as required, leading to criminal charges.

WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities say a Waukesha School District official has been charged after failing to report an apparent child abuse situtaion at Horning Middle School.
According to court records, Jason A. Gahan, the director of secondary special education for the Waukesha School District, was charged with failing to report child abuse, and obstructing an officer.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County, in July, a gym teacher found two boys in a locker room in a potentially compromising situation on Feb. 26 of this year.

According to the complaint, Vice Principal Sharin Tebo spoke with both boys about the situation in the locker room. One student said it was part of a truth-or-dare bet but that nothing improper happened. The other student, however, said that he was sexually assaulted and was physically threatened.
Gahan told the principal to contact the parents of each child to determine whether authorities needed to be contacted.

The criminal complaint stated that Gahan told investigators that he made a mistake in not following up with human services after the principal told him that one of the students said he was sexually assaulted.
Gahan is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court on July 16.
