Waukesha Schools Locked Down For Hour Due To Area Gun Threat

The schools affected were Waukesha North High School, Lowell Elementary School, and Summit View Elementary School.

WAUKESHA, WI — An apparent threat involving a man with a gun prompted the lockdown of several Waukesha schools as officers worked to address the potential threat in area neighborhoods.

As it turned out, police did not locate a man with a gun, and the lockout was lifted about an hour after the reported threat.

On Tuesday Nov. 15, 2017, at 3:11 p.m. a resident in the area of Summit Ave. and Greenmeadow Dr. called to report seeing a subject in their backyard with a gun. All available squads responded to the area and set up a perimeter in the neighborhood, police told Patch.

As a precaution, neighboring schools were put on lock out for approximately 50 minutes while officers investigated the call. The schools affected were Waukesha North High School, Lowell Elementary School, and Summit View Elementary School police reported.

According to Waukesha police, officers interviewed the caller and thoroughly searched the area but did not find the subject. At approximately 4:04pm the lockout was lifted and the affected schools resumed normal activities.

This incident is still under investigation.
