Wauwatosa Thief Flees Waukesha Police After Arrest Attempt

A man wanted in a Wauwatosa retail theft fled Waukesha police Thursday after a traffic stop and foot chase.

WAUKESHA, WI — A man wanted in a Wauwatosa retail theft fled Waukesha police Thursday after a traffic stop and foot chase.

According to police accounts, just after 9 p.m., an officer attempted to stop Roy Whitelow at Grandview and Summit Ave. Whitelow had an open warrant out for his arrest in Wauwatosa for retail theft and obstructing an officer.

According to police reports, when officers went to arrest Whitelow he fled on foot eastbound on Summit Ave then ran behind Cho’s Martial Arts. Officers lost sight of Whitelow and a perimeter was established.

Officers and K9 responded to assist in bringing Whitelow into custody however were unable to locate Whitelow.

Eyewitness accounts stated that a resident on Glenn said they saw Whitelow attempting to hide in a thicket of bushes.

Another resident on the 700 block of N. Moreland Blvd. stated her dogs detected something out of the ordinary and the owner told police they thought Whitelow was hiding in the raspberry bushes in the back yard.

Officers investigated each of the reported sightings, however Whitelow had fled by the time officers could respond.
