Wednesday Morning Fire Displaces Waukesha Residents: Report

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke showing from the apartment on the back side of the multi-family building.

WAUKESHA, WI -- An apartment fire on N. East Ave. early Wednesday morning displaced multiple families, though did not result in any injuries, fire officials say.

According to the Waukesha Fire Department, fire crews were dispatched on a report of a structure fire at 825 N. East Ave. just after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

According to fire officials, when firefighters arrived, they found smoke showing from the apartment on the back side of the multi-family building.

When they arrived, firefighters reported that residents were evacuating the building. The fire was located in the living room in the first-floor unit, and it was brought under control at 8:30 a.m.

Fire officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

The American Red Cross has been called to the scene and is helping the displaced families with their housing needs.
