United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(November 13, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

NAMI’s World’s Greatest Cookie Sale - Waukesha

Help NAMI Waukesha raise funds at the World's Greatest Cookie Sale! We are in need of volunteers to assist with packaging the 250 dozen cookies that will be donated to NAMI Waukesha for the World's Greatest Cookie Sale on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm.

We are also in need of a few volunteers to help NAMI Waukesha sell cookies at the World's Greatest Cookie Sale on Friday, November 29 (the day after Thanksgiving). This event is located at the Country Springs Hotel Grand Ballroom from 12:00 pm- 4:00pm. Get into the Holiday Spirit and help raise funds to support NAMI Waukesha free mental health support, education, and advocacy programs.

Holiday Gift Wrapping - Brookfield

The Literacy Council of Greater Waukesha is in need of volunteers to wrap gifts at Barnes & Noble at Brookfield Square on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday December 22, 2013. Saturday’s shifts run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday’s from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Barnes & Noble invites non-profit organizations to wrap gifts for store customers and keep any tips that the customers donate. A minimum of two people is required at the wrapping table. Minors may wrap, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Lunch Time Assistant - Waukesha

Volunteers are needed to assist with serving meals at our facility. Duties include setting the table, serving a wonderful hot meal, and cleaning up afterward. For additional fun, volunteers can assist clients with various table games such as yahtzee, cards, or puzzles after they have finished their meals. Volunteers are needed from 11:30am-1:00pm Monday through Friday.

Tour Guides – Waukesha

Tour themes range from the Civil War, Springs Era, to modern technology and the earliest days of our county's settlement. You needn't be an expert on history, we provide you with all the information. Want to try something new and rewarding? Become a tour guide for the Waukesha County Museum! Tour guides must be friendly out going individuals who enjoy working with people of all ages. They must be able to clearly explain, verbally and through demonstrations, activities and exhibits. They also must be able to cope with unanticipated situations. Training for tour guides occurs in several sessions.
