United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities
(December 11, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:
Meal Drivers – Menomonee Falls
Drivers are needed to deliver meals once a week or twice a month to seniors living in Waukesha County. Receiving this meal allows home bound older adults to live longer in their own home. It also helps seniors receive proper nutrition and maintain their independence. Help is needed from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm week-days in the following locations: Brookfield, Butler, Hartland, Menomonee Falls, Mukwonago, Muskego, New Berlin, Oconomowoc, Sussex and Waukesha. Individuals, couples, friends and neighbors can do this together. Training and mileage reimbursement is provided. Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old (children with families must be over the age of 6), have reliable transportation, possess a valid driver's license and provide proof of auto insurance. There will be a background check on all who apply.
Help Make Smiles Happy and Healthy – Waukesha
Volunteer dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists and others are needed and all are welcome to help us. As a volunteer, you will be helping to provide dental services to those who are less fortunate and who have not been able to afford dental care. The dental team is experienced, friendly, accommodating, willing to assist volunteers; making the experience stress free. The work environment is meticulous, complete with state of the art technology. Low income families tend to have higher rates of tooth decay and have greater difficulty accessing ongoing basic dental care. Low income families in Waukesha County are not immune to this problem.
Memory Enhancement Program Helper – Menomonee Falls
If you are interested in working with seniors, join us as an assistant for our memory enhancement program. Our program works with seniors who have experienced memory loss not typically associated with normal aging such as those who suffered a stroke, have mild Alzheimer's or dementia. Volunteers are needed to provide assistance with memory enhancement activities like brainteasers and creative projects, help prepare and serve lunch, and participate in light physical exercise activities. Volunteers are needed between 10:00am-2:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at least twice per month. Lunch will be provided. Volunteer must be a minimum of 18 years old and able to commit to attending twice per month.
In-Kind Donation Volunteer – Hartland
Do you love couponing? Are you excited to find discounted and free goods and services? Then this is the volunteer opportunity for you! The National Multiple Sclerosis Society – WI Chapter is seeking a volunteer to assist with securing in kind donations to make our events possible! In kind donations are goods and/or services donated by organizations and are critical to the success of the National MS Society’s events. The in kind donation volunteer will have the opportunity to identify and secure in kind donations for Chapter events from our many generous donors throughout the state.
