United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(December 26, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Intern for Spring Semester – Waukesha

While we can't promise glamor or celebrity sightings, we can assure you that working with our small but mighty nonprofit will contribute to positive change in children's lives! We have BIG THINGS that happen in March and April, and we need someone who will help us prepare. Most of the duties are clerical -- data entry, phone calls, emails, an occasional mailing -- and as such can be done at your convenience. Some might also be helping with student presentations, depending on your availability. Two to five hours per week, Jan. 20 - May 2. If you know your way around a computer (especially a Mac, but not crucial) and the Internet, and you like to have fun, you'll be great!

Greek Goddess Event – Waukesha

Be a Girl Scout Event Volunteer and share your passion, have fun, and positively impact girls' lives. Activities are already created and materials provided. Assist or lead a group of 15-20 girls grades 4-5. Travel back in time to ancient Greece and the Olympic games. Fashion a toga and strap on your sandals to experience daily life through stories, food, art, and the games. Events may require additional set up and clean up time, beyond the scheduled event. Staff will provide a detailed confirmation prior to the event. Volunteers must be a minimum age of 18 years old. All volunteers must complete a brief application and background check.

Kind Hearts Needed for Friendly Visits - Waukesha

Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for kind hearts seeking to make a real difference in the lives of terminally ill adults. If you enjoy reading, sharing memories, being a good listener or sharing any other talents you have, we have an opportunity for you. Volunteers play an essential role in the lives of our patients and families. An hour a week can provide so much comfort and care to our patients and families. Volunteers are required to complete new volunteer training as well as a criminal background check and TB test (Seasons provides). Individuals must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer.

Handy Helpers - Waukesha

Are you looking to do a little manual work, burn a few calories and help others? The Waukesha County Museum has a little spiffing up to do and would appreciate 5-10 strong volunteers to help remove old non-useable items from rooms located in the museum. Old shelving units, old computer parts and even a room of carpet needs to be ripped up and thrown in the dumpster. Hours are flexible anytime during museum hours, Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
