The Weird Week of Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan tussles with Donald Trump. The two agree to meet this week. Now Sarah Palin says Ryan's political career is over.

On Sunday, presumptive GOP presidential nominee said he was "blindsided" by Paul Ryan's comments that the Speaker of the House was not yet ready to support him. Next, former Alaska Governor and frequent Donald Trump campaign speaker Sarah Palin said she will work to defeat House Speaker Paul Ryan by backing his primary opponent in Wisconsin.

Ryan's opponent is this guy:

Palin said her decision was sparked by Ryan going public saying he wasn’t yet ready to support Donald Trump, the Republican presumptive nominee. Palin endorsed Trump back in January.

“I think Paul Ryan is soon to be ‘Cantored,’ as in Eric Cantor,” Palin said, speaking about the former Republican House majority leader who was ousted in a shocking upset in 2014 when challenger Dave Brat ran to his right in a Virginia primary.

Earlier this week ...

On Tuesday, Donald Trump won the Indiana GOP primary, which effectively put him on track to collect enough delegates to secure his party's presidential nomination.

On Thursday, House Speaker Paul Ryan, the country's highest-ranking Republican in office, said he is "not ready" to endorse Donald Trump for a potential GOP presidential nomination.

"I hope to support our nominee," Ryan said on CNN. "I'm just not there right now. We have work to do. Our nominee has work to do."

On Friday, Trump fired right back, issuing this statement:

"I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan's agenda. Perhaps in the future we can work together and come to an agreement about what is best for the American people. They have been treated so badly for so long that it is about time for politicians to put them first!"

Looking Ahead ...

According to RNC Reince Priebus, Ryan is reportedly "going to get there" with Trump. They're going to meet next week to start sorting things out.

Stay tuned, folks! It's only the beginning.
