West-Side Waukesha Condo Proposal Might Need 'More Character'

Waukesha Plan Commission documents state the proposal was preliminary in nature.

WAUKESHA, WI -- A developer has come forward to propose a new 42-unit condo development for a parcel of land near Summit Ave. and Woodland Hills Dr.

According to a GM Today report, Greg James, president of Condo Development, Inc., went before the Waukesha Plan Commission on Wednesay to seek consultation about two three-story buildings for the four-acre parcel of land on Waukesha's west side.

Waukesha Plan Commission documents state the proposal was preliminary in nature. As a result, it was not officially brought up for consideration. Typically, this is done in order to get feedback from public officials prior to making a formal proposal.

Meeting documents stated: "Before the developer gets too far along in the design and engineering process, he would like the opinion of the Plan Commission as to whether this concept would be considered for this site considering the history of past proposals."

According to the report in GM Today, city officials said the developer's existing design might not be ritzy enough for the area.

"Doug Koehler, a senior planner with the city, said staff have found the project viable for the site, but wanted to see the company add more architectural details and character to the buildings if he chooses to proceed," the report stated.
