When I Die - a blog on life insurance

Jackson Bubolz's thoughts on caring for your family

I’ve previously thought that when I die, it will be tough, but my family will simply need to flex. We would sell the house, makes arrangements with school and work, and move on with life. This is the logic that ran through my head until my wife and I bought life insurance four years ago.

A trusted advisor asked my wife and I to reflect on the gut-wrenching grief, justified self-pity, and colossal challenges of one taking on a life that was hard to do with two people… and now there is only one person… how crushing that would be.

When I die, my kids will be without a parent. That’s four people who will lose a leader in their life.

When I die, my business, charitable works, and income stream all die with me

When I die, my family can no longer pay our mortgage

When I die, there won’t be a resource that can provide the emotional attention my children need

When I die, the housekeeping workload decreases by 18%, while the labor decreases by 50%

When I die, our debt becomes twice as large because we have half the household income

As parents and spouses, do we really want to stack the financial deck against our families directly after we lose the most emotionally and economically impactful person in our lives?

Life insurance doesn’t solve all the above challenges my family goes through when I die. It does solve some of them though, and the others are more palatable because of life coverage. If you don’t have a policy that stands apart from what you employer offers, you need one.

One doesn’t have to buy from me. Although, I have recently gone through this buying process. Four years ago, we found a policy that fit our needs and budget, bought them, and pushed this tough conversation out of our minds again. I’m empathetic, patient, and can relate to the uncomfortableness of making your life coverage decisions.

This I can promise… once you put your coverage in place, you will feel much better, and can put the thoughts of “What happens when I die” to distant parts of your consciousness… where it belongs. Address what happens “When you die,” and quickly get back to living your life.

We encourage you to insure differently. We are driven to serve.
