Wisconsin Unemployment Data Released: Positive Outlook
Much of Wisconsin saw unemployment rates either decrease or remain the same in the past year.
WISCONSIN — Wisconsin's unemployment rate has dropped in many metro areas, municipalities and counties, according to a release from the Department of Workforce Development. The data comes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
For May 2019, unemployment rates dropped or stayed the same in seven of Wisconsin's 12 metro areas compared to one year prior. The largest decrease in unemployment, of one tenth of one percent, happened in the Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis, Sheboygan, Wausau, and Racine metro areas.
Of Wisconsin's 33 largest cities, 22 saw unemployment rates stay the same or drop. The biggest increase from the year prior was seen in Mount Pleasant at .5 percent.

Of the state's 72 counties, 47 saw unemployment rates decrease or stay the same. The largest improvement was in Iron County, with a 1.1 percent drop in unemployment.
