Woman Arrested After Police Search Included Woods: Report

Waukesha police arrested a 22-year-old Waukesha woman near the Walmart after an extensive search.

WAUKESHA, WI -- Waukesha police arrested a 22-year-old Waukesha woman after a lengthy search Thursday night. Authorities say she was taken into protective custody for a mental health evaluation.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 2000 block of Madera St. just after 4 p.m. Thursday on a report that the woman was creating a disturbance and refusing to leave.

Reports indicated the woman threatened self-harm and fled the scene.

According to police reports, the woman had left the area before officers could arrive. Authorities began an extensive search to find the woman, employing multiple officers to search the area.

Reports indicated that officers made multiple P.A. announcements into a nearby woods, fearing that she fled into the woods to hide. Officers also made use of thermal imaging equipment in an effort to track her down.

According to police reports, the woman was tracked down to an area outside the Walmart at about 6:30 p.m. where she was taken into custody without further incident.
