Suspect takes car from Boucher Chevrolet as no one questioned her address of Pacific Coast Highway in Milwaukee, according to criminal complaint.

A Milwaukee woman is facing charges after she was able to buy a car from a Waukesha car dealership by providing fraudulent pay stubs and giving a nonexistent address to staff there.
Sharon A. Beckford, 48, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of theft of more than $10,000 by false representation. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

On Jan. 2, Beckford purchased a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu from Boucher Chevrolet for $15,466. She was denied a direct loan from the dealership, but was able to get financed by another institution by showing two pay stubs from 2011.
Four days later the dealership was contacted by the financial institution after it learned the stubs were fraudulent. Employees there tried to call her, but were unsuccessful.

Beckford noted her address as living in the 24200 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Milwaukee, which investigators noted is a non-existent road. Officers were able to obtain her real address from her husband who was at the dealership, but said he’s separated from his wife.
Investigators went to her real address in Milwaukee and tried to get her to come out, but Beckford refused. Eventually her lawyer contacted the officer who then explained the situation.
The lawyer was able to get Beckford to agree to give back the car, but she never came out and refused to answer the phone when her lawyer tried to connect a three way call with the officer.
Beckford isn’t in custody and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
