Woman Struck Pole, Apartment Building Thursday: Police
Waukesha police say a woman is recovering after she swerved at the intersection of Oakdale and Highway 59. Here's what happened:
WAUKESHA, WI -- A 39-year-old Waukesha woman is recovering after a car accident Thursday afternoon near Highway 59 and Oakdale Drive.
According to police, officers arrived at the scene just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday to find that the car driven by the woman struck a traffic pole, went down a nearby embankment and struck an apartment building on the 1200 block of Woodbury.
Reports stated that the woman sustained a substantial head injury. She was transported to the hospital where she was treated and later released.

Police say the woman told officers that she swerved to avoid striking a deer prior to the accident, but that witnesses told police there was no deer.
The intersection was shut down for a time Thursday afternoon after the city electrician responded to clear live electrical wires that had fallen into the intersection.

Police told Patch that the driver did not suffer from any signs of impairment, and no arrests were made as a result of the traffic incident. Police also said nobody was hurt in the apartment building that was struck.
