Drivers are urged to follow posted detours, avoid water-covered roads, and check 511wi.gov before traveling, as river levels are still cresting and conditions can change quickly.

2. Comets baseball gets into win column (waupacanow.com) — Waupaca Comets baseball fans can celebrate the team’s first win of 2026, a 9–6 comeback victory on the road at Menasha on April 10. After falling behind 6–1, Waupaca’s bats came alive, with key hits from Max Dolski, John Zeamer, and teammates fueling an eight-run surge to close out the game.

Learn to Hunt program in Waupaca County pairs mentors with new turkey hunters (wisfarmer.com) — Waupaca-area hunters just wrapped up this year’s Learn to Hunt turkey program, where 34 first-time participants were paired with experienced mentors on local farms around Waupaca and Lind. Despite an ice storm that hit Waupaca County and nearby areas, hunters still harvested birds while learning safety, ethics, and the basics of turkey hunting in a no-cost, community-supported program.

Logging in Caledonia tied to invasive beetle (waupacanow.com) — Drivers heading west on Highway 10 into Waupaca County may notice large areas of trees cleared near Cane Drive in the Town of Caledonia, but it’s actually a salvage harvest of ash trees threatened by emerald ash borer. State forestry officials say nearly all ash in these swamp hardwood stands are dying, and the land will likely revert to lowland grass despite management efforts.
