1-Year-Old Girl Dies In House Fire, Woman Arrested: Police
She was rescued and transported to the hospital with serious injuries, but did not survive. Police now have a suspect in custody.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee police say that a 31-year-old woman has been taken into custody on preliminary charges of child neglect after the death of a child over the weekend.
The Milwaukee Fire Department is investigating a fire after a 1-year-old baby girl died in the blaze on Saturday.
The Milwaukee Fire department responded to a home near 28th and Meinecke at about 10 p.m. Saturday for a report of a house fire.

According to reports, several adults in the house managed to leave without incident, however a 1-year-old girl was removed from the house after she sustained serious injuries from the fire.
MCMEO: the 1 y.o. female rescued from the fire at 28th & Meinecke on 02/10/2018 died this morning at an area hospital. An autopsy is planned for Monday. No further info. @MilwaukeePolice investigating.

According to a FOX 6 report, the girl's name was Quamyiia Owens, and she celebrated her first birthday in December. She was transported to the hospital with injuries from the fire, but did not survive.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner pronounced Owens dead early Sunday. The fire is under investigation.
