15-Year-Old Dies In Freeway Shooting; Identified: Report

Milwaukee County Sheriff Richard Schmidt called Sunday's freeway shooting at Highway 41 and Hampton Ave. "senseless and barbaric."

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee County Sheriff Richard Schmidt called Sunday's freeway shooting at Highway 41 and Hampton Ave. "senseless and barbaric" Friday after the victim in that shooting, a 15-year-old boy, succumbed to his wounds Friday.

Authorities identified the shooting victim as 15-year-old Gevonnie Frazier of Milwaukee on Friday afternoon.

The shooting was reported just after 10 p.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 41 at Hampton Ave., according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said that the vehicle Frazier was traveling in was involved in a crash off the freeway. Authorities found Frazier non-responsive and seated in the vehicle.

Frazier was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and the incident remains an open investigation. Authorities are reporting that they are questioning two people in connection with one of Milwaukee's most recent tragic incidents involving gun violence.
