Ald. Tells Minority Advocates We Already Have Jackie Robinson Day
Wauwatosa Alderman Jason Kofroth's comments did not go over well with those advocating for a new inclusion commission.

WAUWATOSA, WI — A Wauwatosa alderman's comments regarding racial inclusion are drawing attention after a Tuesday meeting in the city.
Margaret Michele Arney and Lynne Woehrle delivered a presentation to the city's Government Affairs Committee on Tuesday night, advocating for the city to add an Equity and Inclusion Commission to support the city's minority population.
According to a WTMJ-4 report, District 7 alderman Jason Kofroth spoke publicly during the meeting and following the presentation. His comments did not go over with many in attendance.

“There was Jackie Robinson Day where every single one of the MLB players wore 42 on the back of their jerseys, and we’re all here missing the Bucks playoff game where we have a stadium of 17,000 fans that are cheering for a team that is almost all African-American. You had the NFL Draft last week, a celebration of a lot of minority players,” he said during the meeting according to city records.
Among the comments Kofroth received, one came from Woehrle: “Many of the things that I just heard you say to me also suggest that this is exactly why we need a commission," WTMJ reported.
