Center Street Closures Will Affect Wauwatosa Traffic

WAUWATOSA, WI — Residents of Wauwatosa are going to see a couple new reasons to find detours starting next Monday.

That's because the City of Milwaukee will be starting paving on Monday, April 29. Center Street will be closed from 60th to 68th Monday and possibly Tuesday. Center Street from 68th to 75th will be closed possibly Tuesday and Wednesday, city officials said.

According to Wauwatosa officials, the work is weather dependent. There is rain in the forecast, so there might be a delay. However, residents can anticipate three or four days of closures on Center Street.

Wauwatosa officials said Milwaukee is responsible for the re-paving this year after a deal was struck with the city to share repair duties. Center Street east of 76th Street is half in Wauwatosa and half in Milwaukee. City officials partnered with Milwaukee on roadwork on Center Street last year. Last fall, Wauwatosa repaired sanitary and storm sewers, relined sewers, reconstructed some curb ramps, and repaired their portion of Center Street.
