Family Car Explodes As Child With Rare Disease Leaves Hospital
After a year of treatment, Jaxson Oliphant was on his way home when the family car exploded. "I just feel like I can't get a break."

WASHINGTON COUNTY, WI — A 5-year-old boy who just underwent nearly a year of treatment for a rare kidney disease at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin had his family's vehicle burst into flames on their way back home.
According to a W‌ISN report Tuesday, 5-year-old Jaxson Oliphant and his family were on their way home in the family car - a GMC Jimmy - when it caught fire and exploded on Highway 41 in Germantown Saturday.
"I just feel like I can't get a break," Jaxson's mother Lindsey Oliphant said to WISN. "At least the kids are okay. From Jax I've learned you can't take things for granted because it could be taken away in the blink of an eye."

"The first thing I did was go grab Jaxon and Tony grabbed his wheelchair," Lindsey Oliphant told WISN. "(My 15-year-old son) Tony had to grab the three oxygen tanks before it exploded. We couldn't grab anything else. By that time the flames were up in the air."
The family has a GoFundMe account set up to help pay for Jaxson's medical bills, however now with the family's latest tragedy, that account is still accepting donations.
According to family accounts, half of his Jaxson's large intestine was removed and half of his small intestine along with part of his bowel. His mother Lindsey needed help with paying rent and trying to get transportation from Ashland Wisconsin to Marshfield Clinic.
Without a car, their travel to and from Ashland gets much more difficult.
