JC Penney To Lay Off 640 Workers, Close Wauwatosa Warehouse

JC Penney said they will be transferring operations in Wauwatosa to other facilities in Lenexa, Kansas and Columbus, Ohio.

WAUWATOSA, WI — Citing an oversized supply chain network, JC Penney announced they are shuttering their distribution operation in Wauwatosa, which will result in the loss of about 670 local jobs.

According to a report by the Milwaukee Business Journal, who broke the story earlier this morning, the J.C. Penney Company will begin laying off workers this summer with plans to sell the building to a local real estate company.

The company also stated that they need to reduce the size of their supply chain network to match their number of national stores. That means they will be transferring operations in Wauwatosa to other facilities in Lenexa, Kansas and Columbus, Ohio.
