WISCONSIN — It's illegal to bet on sporting events in Wisconsin, whether it's with a live bookie or with an online bookie, yet after a landmark moment in American sports history Monday morning, it's now a matter of if and when in the Badger State.
The Supreme Court ruled, 7-2, to overturn the federal banon sports gambling. It allows individuals states to decide whether to allow sports gambling.
Wisconsin would still need to pass a law allowing sports betting. The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act was passed in 1992. Only Nevada remained allowed to bet on the results of single games.
