Officers Witness Drive-By Shooting, Make Arrest After Chase: Cops

Wauwatosa police say two officers on patrol saw a suspect point and fire a gun at a pedestrian on the sidewalk. Here's what happened next:

WAUWATOSA, WI -- Police in Wauwatosa say officers on patrol witnessed a drive-by shooting, and managed to take the suspects into custody after a chase through the city.

At just after 3 p.m. Thursday, two Wauwatosa Police officers were driving in an unmarked squad near W. Hampton Ave. and N. 76th St. in Milwaukee when they saw a man fire a handgun from a moving vehicle toward a pedestrian.

According to reports, the officers followed the vehicle and radioed for additional squads when the driver fled an attempted traffic stop.

Police in Wauwatosa said the suspects fled at a high rate of speed. Authorities said the high-speed chase stopped after the suspects crashed into a tree at the intersection of 50th St. and W. Auer Ave. Following the vehicle pursuit, and a foot chase, the two men were arrested and the handgun was recovered.
