R&R Poke Opening In Wauwatosa Saturday

The Poke bowl is gaining popularity for it's health-conscious approach to the midday meal.

WAUWATOSA, WI — Diners in Wauwatosa and the surrounding area will soon be able to have one of dining out's newest culinary trends as R&R Poke plans to open later this summer at 1460 Underwood Ave.

According to an OnMilwaukee report earlier, the new restaurant will be owned and operated by Ren Zhang and spouse Rachel Zhao. According to the article, Zhang was inspired to learn more about the Poke tradition while on a trip to New York several years ago. He learned the craft, worked in several Poke restaurants and is now getting ready to open his own restaurant.

A JSOnline report says that the restaurant will also offer fresh tropical smoothies, fruit and herbal teas, a juice pharmacy and bubble milk tea (cold and hot).

Poke is not pronounced "poke," but rather as "POH-keh" and it's a Hawaiian dish that has been around for a very long time. The Poke bowl is gaining popularity for it's health-conscious approach to the midday meal.
The Poke bowl includes a meat - often raw fish - served over a bowl of sushi rice and combined with things like quinoa, noodles and a variety of adds such as fresh fruit, vegetables, legumes, sauces, herbs and spices.
