Shootout Leads To Arrest of 23-Year-Old Suspect: Police
Police in Wauwatosa say they were involved in a shootout with an armed man early Tuesday morning after officers tried stopping a stolen car.

WAUWATOSA, WI — Police in Wauwatosa say they were involved in a shootout with an armed man early Tuesday morning after officers tried stopping a stolen car.
According to Wauwatosa police, at 12:30 a.m., Wauwatosa Police attempted to stop the driver of a white 2015 Subaru that was reported stolen out of Milwaukee, only to have the driver of the vehicle flee police, initiating a police pursuit.
Police say that officers deployed spike strips were deployed in an attempt to deflate the fleeing vehicle's tires end the pursuit. Police say the vehicle eventually stopped in the 3300 block of N. 85th St.

As soon as the vehicle stopped, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man with a lengthy arrest record began shooting a semi-automatic firearm at Wauwatosa police, reports stated. Wauwatosa police say the man fired multiple rounds at officers, with at least two of the rounds hitting a squad car.
Wauwatosa police say the man was struck twice by police gunfire, and that a 19-year-old woman who was a passenger in the stolen vehicle was also struck by one round. Police said they did not know whether she was struck by the suspect or police. She was also treated and has been released from the hospital. Police say there were four total occupants of the vehicle.
Wauwatosa Police are investigating this shooting and the Milwaukee Police Department is assisting in the investigation, according to authorities. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Lab is processing the scene for evidence.
