Train Hits Suspect's Car After Police Chase: Police

Police say a moving train struck a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a police chase earlier that evening.

WEST ALLIS, WI — A police chase early Thursday resulted in two suspects getting away, but not before the vehicle they were traveling in was struck by a moving train, police say.

According to a WISN 12 report, New Berlin police reported that they conducted a traffic stop in the area of 124th St. and Greenfield Ave just after midnight., only to have the drivers of a tan Toyota Camry flee the stop.

A police pursuit was initiated that was terminated east near 56th St. and Greenfield when the vehicle eluded police, according to the report.

According to police reports, a vehicle matching the description of the fleeing vehicle was struck at a railroad crossing near 56th and Mobile streets in West Allis about an hour later.

A spokesperson for Union Pacific told WISN that the car had apparently been abandoned on the tracks. No one was inside the car when it collided with the train.
