Updates On 3 Wauwatosa Construction Projects

They say there are only two seasons in Wisconsin: winter and construction season. Here's what that means for Wauwatosa.

WAUWATOSA, WI — They say there are only two seasons in Wisconsin: winter and construction season. In Wauwatosa, that statement has definitely held true as the Village and greater city have seen their share of urban improvements.

Wauwatosa officials delivered an update on the afternoon of July 12, letting people know about the various stages of construction on three important local projects:

Root Common and Pocket Park
City officials are reporting that the final improvements are nearing completion at the two parks at the intersection of Harwood and Wauwatosa Avenues. The public is invited to the opening of the parks and the new Root Concert Series on July 19 starting at 6 p.m.

Harmonee/Underwood Avenues
Wauwatosa officials say that construction workers will be finishing the road, curb, sidewalk, street lighting, and street trees around the soon-to-open Harmonee Square development. To finish this work, workers will be closing one of the southbound lanes on Harmonee Avenue between Underwood Avenue and Menomonee River Parkway.

There will be at least one lane open in both directions on Harmonee Avenue during this work. Look for work starting the week of July 23, weather-dependent, and completion by Labor Day.

State Street Reconstruction
Wauwatosa officials are reporting that they reached a big milestone this past week: the north side of State Street has been freshly paved. Workers are now building the south side of the street complete with a new sidewalk on the south side along the entire stretch from 68th Street to Wauwatosa Avenue. The area will be back to two-way traffic in about 5 weeks.
