Wauwatosa Intersection Closure Planned For Monday

Workers will be replacing old water and sewer lines and reconstructing roads within the Swan Park Neighborhood.

WAUWATOSA, WI — City officials in Wauwatosa expect to close the intersection of Menomonee River Parkway and Ridge Blvd. between Monday, July 15 and Friday, July 19 for work on the sanitary sewer.

This is part of the Swan Park Neighborhood construction project, officials said Thursday. If you normally take Menomonee River Parkway, city officials are encouraging you to use 92nd St. as an alternative route.

The project, which began in spring 2019, continues through the fall of 2021. Workers will be replacing old water and sewer lines and reconstructing roads within the Swan Park Neighborhood. Work will be staged over three construction seasons to lessen the impacts to residents, officials said.

According to Wauwatosa officials, the work on Ridge Blvd, Harding Blvd., Wilson Blvd, 97th St and 96th St includes:

  • Replacement of storm sewer, sanitary sewer main and water main. These utilities were originally constructed between 1930 and 1950 and are nearing the end of their useful life.
  • Sidewalk, curb and driveway approach replacement as necessary
  • Street lighting, including replacing the cables and poles Reconstruction of the roadway
  • Replacement of street trees as necessary
