What does the Certificate of Achievement Recognize?

The Certificate of Achievement, the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, is awarded to financial reports that embrace the β€œspirit of full disclosure” and go above and beyond the minimum requirements of financial reporting. It recognizes reports that clearly communicate the government’s financial story and motivate people to read the report through quality of presentation. Readers of the report have the tools and information to assess the financial health of the government themselves because the information is presented in a transparent and thoughtful manner.

Award of Financial Reporting Achievement

In recognition of the City’s receipt of the Certificate of Achievement, the GFOA has also presented an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement to the Finance Department and John Ruggini, Finance Director. This award recognizes the hard work and dedication that goes into preparing comprehensive financial reports in the spirit of full transparency. Congratulations to John and all of Wauwatosa’s Finance Department.
