Wauwatosa Whole Foods Store Exposed to Hackers

Customers who bought meals or drinks at its in-store restaurants or bars may have had their credit information exposed to hackers.

WAUWATOSA, WI — The Whole Foods store in Wauwatosa was reportedly impacted by a data breach where customers’ credit and debit card payment information may have been accessed. It was the only location in Wisconsin that was reportedly subject to the data

In Wauwatosa, the Cook Shack, Juice Bar and Tosa Tavern were all subject to the breach, Whole Foods is reporting.

The grocer, which was recently acquired by Seattle-based online retailer Amazon.com Inc., says the data breach did not affect any Amazon.com shoppers, nor did it affect cards used at the primary store checkout systems, as venues like taprooms and restaurants use a different point-of-sale system.

The company continues to investigate the hack, and says it will provide additional updates as it learns more. The grocery chain said on its website that encourages customers to closely monitor their payment card statements and report any unauthorized charges to the issuing bank.
