Run by the Heart of Wisconsin Chamber and Community Incubator with state support, the initiative pairs training, mentoring, and funding to help launch or grow small businesses and strengthen the south Wood County economy.
   

2. Bond Set for Wisconsin Rapids Man Accused of OWI, Fleeing and Officer (wsau.com) — A 47-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man is being held on $75,000 cash bond after police say a speeding stop turned into a high-speed chase from Grand Rapids into Wisconsin Rapids, ending with a PIT maneuver and foot pursuit. He faces multiple charges, including alleged seventh-offense OWI and fleeing an officer, with potential prison time exceeding 18 years.
   

3. Feltz Pleads Not Guilty by Mental Disease or Defect in Stolen Ambulance Case (wsau.com) — A man accused of taking a working ambulance from Wisconsin Rapids to a muddy field near Pittsville has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. With a patient still inside during the chase, he now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, a court-ordered mental competency exam, and a next hearing set for August 27.
   

4. Plover woman charged after alleged drink tampering caught on video (wisconsinrapidstribune.com) — A Stevens Point man who sought treatment at hospitals in Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids led investigators to charge a Plover woman with allegedly tampering with his drinks using eye drops. Hidden camera footage reportedly showed her adding liquid to his beverages multiple times, and prosecutors say his unexplained health problems date back more than a year. She is being held on $100,000 cash bail.
   

5. Doyle, Huskies blank Badlands (duluthnewstribune.com) — Duluth Huskies pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout of the Badlands Big Sticks, one night after routing Wisconsin Rapids 30-10 in a doubleheader game highlighted by George McIntyre’s three home runs. Friday’s win featured strong starting pitching, late-inning offense, and another McIntyre homer as Duluth looks to build momentum in the second half.
