3. ‘Significant progress' made on Kinky Creek Fire, now 86% contained (county10.com) — Fire managers report the Kinky Creek Fire on the Jackson Ranger District is holding at 880 acres and is now 86% contained, thanks to nearly 100 firefighters working steep, hazardous terrain. Residents and visitors are asked to avoid Kinky Creek Road, nearby trails, and several lake areas in the Gros Ventre Wilderness as crews continue mop-up, patrols, and possible aircraft support amid warm, dry conditions.
   

4. Recovery effort underway for man presumed drowned in Snake River (buckrail.com) — Emergency crews based out of Jackson are searching the Snake River Canyon for a North Carolina man presumed drowned after jumping from Jump Rock without a life jacket on July 4. Star Valley Search and Rescue and federal agencies are using boats, drones, and highway patrols, while local officials stress the importance of wearing personal flotation devices on this fast, dangerous stretch of river.
