Partnership launched to restore Limestone County Courthouse grounds after significant tornado damage (256today.com) ā Downtown Athensā courthouse lawn is set for a major makeover as Athens Main Street and the Limestone County Commission team up to restore tornado-damaged grounds and add new community-friendly features. Plans call for terraced seating, native trees, better walkways, and sustainable landscaping to support festivals, performances, and local vendors while preserving the historic courthouseās character.

2. Athens mayor says no plans for housing at Lincoln Bridgeforth Park; upgrades set for $1.5M renovation (rocketcitynow.com) ā Athens leaders are moving ahead with a $1.5ā$1.8 million renovation of Lincoln Bridgeforth Park, adding a splash pad, walking trail, and updated tennis and pickleball courts while legally consolidating the parkās parcels. City officials are also firmly denying Facebook rumors that the tennis court area would be replaced with apartments, stressing their broader push to expand green space across Athens.

3. āIt's a big loss:' Athens horse farm loses four horses in car wreck (whnt.com) ā An Athens horse farm, 4 C's, lost four of its six horses in an April 16 car accident after the animals escaped their enclosure, forcing childrenās riding lessons to pause. Owner Chelsea Cobb hopes to rebuild her program, planning to restart classes next week with two remaining horses and asking the community to support them by enrolling in lessons or donating online.

Teachers and students credit a welcoming, hardāworking culture, handsāon engineering projects, and constant recruiting that keeps the program growing and prepares seniors for college and careers beyond Athens.
