PREP SOFTBALL: Athens advances to 6th straight state tournament; Athens Bible keeps season alive (enewscourier.com) — Athens High’s softball team has clinched its sixth straight state tournament berth and will open play Monday morning against Helena in Oxford. Pitcher Jaicey Harty and slugger Caitlyn Tedford led the way in a 3-1 win over Hazel Green, while Athens Bible also stayed alive in Class 1A with a dominant victory over Pickens Academy and continues regional play today.

New Hope man arrested after bomb threat at the Limestone County Courthouse (whnt.com) — A bomb threat phoned into the Limestone County Courthouse in Athens led to a full evacuation Monday, a search by bomb technicians, and the later arrest of a New Hope man. Authorities say no device was found, but the sheriff stressed that any threats to the Athens courthouse and local justice system will be aggressively investigated and prosecuted.
