• ECSO reports fatal shooting near Atmore (brewtonstandard.com) — Law enforcement is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that happened June 29 on Atmosphere Road near Atmore, after Escambia County deputies say a barricaded suspect repeatedly threatened neighbors and officers with a firearm. Negotiators and SWAT were called in, less-lethal tactics reportedly failed, and the suspect was fatally shot; the State Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case.
