28 New Coronavirus Deaths Confirmed in Alabama, 830 New Cases
The Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed 28 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
MONTGOMERY, AL — More than 800 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Alabama in the last 24 hours, as Thursday's report from the Alabama Department of Public Health showed 124,097 total coronavirus cases in the state — 830 more than yesterday — and an increase of 28 fatalities from the virus.
The 28 deaths reported Thursday bring Alabama's coronavirus fatality total above 2,200.
In the last two weeks, the state has confirmed 9,419 new cases of the COVID-19, less than half of the 14-day total seen in mid-July. In Alabama, 824 people remain hospitalized with the virus, down by more than 200 from this time in August.

Thursday is the sixth straight day the state has reported fewer than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19. In the last week, the daily totals of new cases looks like this:

The counties reporting the most new cases of COVID-19 Thursday:
- Jefferson County: 144 new cases; 17,157 total
- Madison County: 73 new cases; 6,748 total
- Shelby County: 53 new cases; 4,535 total
- Tuscaloosa County: 47 new cases; 5,463 total
- Baldwin County: 44 new cases; 4,722 total
