BIRMINGHAM, AL — Two significant events occurred this past week surrounding the death of 27-year-old Trussville resident Paighton Houston, as an arrest as made and the results of her toxicology report were made public.

On top of new surrounding Houston, a deadly fire broke out in Jackson County on Lake Guntersville Sunday night, killing eight people (four children) and destroying 35 boats.

BJCC Legacy Arena To Close For Renovations In April

The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Legacy Arena will close April 2 for renovations, the organization announced Wednesday. The 18- month renovation is scheduled to begin after the Bassmasters Classic event is held at the arena in March.

A family medicine physician pleaded guilty today to drug distribution charges, stemming from prescribing opioid drugs from a medical clinic she operated in Alabama.

A fire at a Jackson County marina Sunday night has resulted in multiple fatalities. Authorities said eight people are confirmed dead and seven people have been hospitalized from the fire, which destroyed 35 boats.

Paighton Houston's Cause Of Death Revealed

Two significant turns have occurred over the last 24 hours in the case of 27-year-old Paighton Houston's death. A suspect in the case, accused of burying Houston's body, was arrested in Ohio, and toxicology reports revealed that there will be no homicide charges in the case.

A bank teller at the Regions Bank branch in Clay has been arrested after being accused of using customers' credit cards to make purchases for herself.
