Birmingham Bowl Broadcast On ESPN Features Pro-Birmingham Ad

An ad highlighting positive aspecys of Birmingham aired during the national broadcast of the Birmingham Bowl Saturday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - With so much publicity surrounding the state of Alabama recently regarding the Senate election between Roy Moore and Doug Jones, many people outside the state might have a less-than-positive image of Alabama. And Alabama's largest city, which hosts and ESPN bowl game each year on national television, wants to improve its image nationwide. During the national broadcast of the Birmingham bowl, an ad ran showcasing many of the positive aspects of the Magic City, an ad that received the stamp of approval from new mayor Randall Woodfin.

The game, which pitted Texas Tech against South Florida, kicked off at 11 a.m. Saturday, and was won by South Florida 38-34. Attendence for the game was estimated at approximately 24,000, which if official would be the lowest of any Birmingham Bowl ever. USF already reported poor ticket sales and returned thousands of tickets back to the bowl.
