BIRMINGHAM, AL — Poor weather conditions rarely interrupt a football game, but in Birmingham Thursday heavy storms delayed the Birmingham Bowl game midway through the first quarter.

A flood warning was issued earlier today for Jefferson County.

Tied 0-0 with 7:55 remaining in the first quarter, Boston College and the University of Cincinnati had their game interrupted due to severe thunderstorms in the area. Both teams were ushered back into their locker rooms.

Oddly, this is the second consecutive bowl game affected by weather for Boston College. The Eagles game against Boise State in Dallas last year in the First Responders Bowl was cancelled due to severe weather.

Play resumed after a 90-minute delay, around 4 p.m.
