BIRMINGHAM, AL — A federal judge on Monday sentenced a Birmingham man for the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank branch in September. U.S. District Judge Annemarie Axon sentenced James Earl Crenshaw, 49, to 100 months in prison.

Crenshaw robbed the Wells Fargo Bank located in downtown Birmingham Sept. 6. In January, Crenshaw pleaded guilty to one count of robbing a federally insured bank.

The investigation revealed that Crenshaw presented a note demanding money from the clerk, and reportedly also verbally threatened to shoot the clerk during the robbery. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash but was later taken into custody by Bessemer Police at 736 Academy Drive.
