Birmingham Water Works Board Chair Indicted

Sherry Lewis and Arcadis executive Jerry Jones have been indicted for ethics violations.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham Water Works Board, Sherry Lewis, was indicted for violating Alabama’s ethics laws Wednesday, along with Arcadis engineering firm executive Jerry Jones. Lewis was accused of using her position for personal gain, or for the gain of a family member, and voting on matters in which she or her family members had financial interest. She turned herself in to authorities at the Jefferson County Jail this afternoon.

According to a report from Alabama Media Group, Lewis' attorney, Brett Bloomston, issued a statement after she turned herself into the jail stating that Lewis plans to plead innocent of the charges. Former Arcadis executive Jerry Jones is also charged with aiding and abetting Lewis in committing those crimes. The AG also indicted Terry Williams, owner of Global Solutions International, an Arcadis subcontractor on the same three counts as Jones.

Lewis, Jones, and Williams were booked into the Jefferson County Jail Wednesday on one count of embezzlement each with a $30,000 bond.
