Birmingham Woman Identified As Homicide Victim

A 62-year-old woman has been identified as a victim in one of multiple homicides over the weekend.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — In one of multiple homicides over the weekend, a woman was shot and killed Saturday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Brenda Lee Jordan, 62, of Birmingham.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the incident occurred in the 6800 Block of 1st Ave North just after 4 p.m. Saturday. Officers discovered the victim in the passenger seat of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Jordan was the passenger in a vehicle traveling eastbound on 1st Ave North when occupants from a vehicle nearby fired shots at another vehicle, striking Jordan, Mauldin said.

There are no suspects in custody. Anyone who has information pertaining to the case, is asked to contact the Birmingham PD Homicide Unit at 205-254-1764.

Police are also investigating multiple shootings in west Birmingham that occurred over the weekend.
