Center Point Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A man who fired into a vehicle in the parking lot of a Walgreens in Center Point has been arrested,

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A 19-year-old Center Point man has been charged for his role in a Tuesday evening shooting on Center Point Parkway. Reports say Montavius Spearman of Center Point was involved in an ongoing feud with the passenger in the victim’s car. When he saw them driving on Center Point Parkway he fired shots at the car.

Just after 5:00 pm on February 27, deputies responded to a report of a person shot on the parking lot of a drug store in the 2300 block of Center Point Parkway. They arrived to find an adult male and an adult female suffering injuries caused by flying glass. No one was shot. The injured were treated and released from a local hospital. Preliminary information indicated that a person riding in the car with the victims exchanged gunfire with another group in a separate car. The victims pulled into the parking lot and the other car fled the scene.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants formally charging Spearman with Attempted Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Attempting to Elude, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $20,900.
