City Of Birmingham Amends Coronavirus Curfew
The City of Birmingham has changed its curfew amid the coronavirus pandemic, effective Friday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — As Gov. Kay Ivey's statewide stay-at-home order expired Thursday, so did Birmingham's curfew, or the one that has been in place all month. The city amended its curfew Thursday amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Mayor Randall Woodfin proposed and the Birmingham City Council approved Thursday a curfew with the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The curfew went into effect at 10 p.m. on April 30. and will end on May 15.

Several exceptions to the curfew exist, which does not impact essential workers or businesses. Exceptions include those traveling for work, medical reasons, serving as a caretaker, to get food (which includes groceries, visiting restaurants).
Failure to comply with the ordinance is punishable by a fine of up to $500.00 and/or up to 30 days in the municipal jail.
