Birmingham City Council Seat 7 Runoff: Polls Close At 7
A runoff between Wardine Alexander and Ray Brooks for District 7 in Birmingham takes place today.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Voters in Birmingham's District 7 go to the polls today for a runoff between incumbent Wardine Alexander and challenger Ray Brooks. Polls are open now and close at 7 p.m.
Alexander received 42.41 percent of the votes in the Oct. 8 general election. Brooks received 30.88 percent of the votes.
Brooks, a former Birmingham fire chief, currently sits on the Birmingham Housing Authority board, previously ran for mayor in 2007 and unsuccessfully applied to fill a council vacancy after District 7 Councilor Miriam Witherspoon died in 2009.

Alexander, a former Birmingham City Board of Education president, was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Jay Roberson last year.
